Kazakh oilseed processing plants produced more than 932 thousand tons of vegetable oils in the first 11 months of the current season, up 21% from the same period last season, according to the National Oilseed Processors Association (NOPA).
The largest increase was recorded in rapeseed oil production, which rose 76% from the previous season. Production of crude sunflower oil increased by 24%, while refined sunflower oil output rose by 5% to 156 thousand tons.
NOPA attributes the positive trend to the expansion of oilseed acreage, the development of domestic processing and Kazakhstan’s strengthening position in the global vegetable oils market.
As previously reported, according to the Bureau of National Statistics, more than 5.179 million hectares were planted with oilseeds in Kazakhstan in 2026, 30% more than a year earlier.
Kazakhstan is also increasing exports of vegetable oils and other oilseed products. In 2025, the country ranked sixth globally in sunflower oil exports, while NOPA aims to bring Kazakhstan into the top three global exporters.
In addition, Kazakhstan is among the top three suppliers of sunflower meal to the European Union, ranks second in sunflower oil supplies to China and third in sunflower meal exports to the Chinese market. At the same time, the country remains the largest supplier of vegetable oils to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, while also supplying sunflower meal to other Central Asian countries.
